October 18 , 2019 Fishing for Rock Fish from a Boat on the Monterey Bay

Two members of our fishing group left Sunnyvale at 4:30 AM for Monterey Bay anticipating a good catch of rock fish. The weather report wasn't great with warnings of 7 foot swells but warm and sunny skies. We are happy that we risked it and enjoyed a lovely day. The boat launched shortly after 6:30 AM and we started to catch fish about a half hour later. The catching was on and off for the seven and a half hours (27 miles) on the boat but we did catch our limits of rock fish. Two Ling Cod were caught by other fishermen. The boat capacity was about 20 or so but there were only 10 on board making it very enjoyable. The captain and deck hand were expert and most helpful.

Boat Track
We visited several places while looking for the most hungry fish. Each place yielded a catch, but none were spectacular.

Now for the work ... fileting.

Traffic was good to us both ways and we agreed that it was a good trip and are anxious to do it again next year.
